Like it or not, the Kardashian family sparks trends including non-invasive beauty treatments. At the time of writing, Kim Kardashian recently shared her experience with Morpheus8, her favorite laser for tightening the skin on her stomach. Now the manufacturer of the device just launched their latest non-invasive procedure to rejuvenate the vagina, Morpheus8V.
But what is this treatment and why is Kardashian raving about it?
What Is Morpehus8?
Morpheus8 is a popular, minimally invasive fractional radiofrequency (RF) microneedling technology that utilizes 24 small, sterile needles to make tiny micro-injuries in the skin in order to generate new collagen and tissue for firmer, smoother, more toned skin. When the needles penetrate the subdermal tissue, it coagulates the fat and contracts the connective tissue to tighten and rejuvenate the treatment area’s. The magic of this treatment is that the needles create tiny channels for the RF to penetrate the skin at the deepest levels.
Where Can Morpheus8 Be Used On The Body?
Morpheus8 can be used on a variety of body parts. One of the most requested treatment areas is around the jowls and jawline. However, it can also be used to tighten loose skin on the inner and outer thighs, above the knees, abdomen, and under the eyes. Furthermore, Morpehus8 can be used to reduce acne scars, stretch marks, pore reduction, wrinkles, and skin discolorations. Side effects are minimal with mild swelling, redness, and potential flaking a few days after the treatment. Typically, at least 3 sessions are needed spaced out 4-6 weeks apart. Results will continue to develop up to three months after the last treatment.
In a recent Instagram post, Kardashian stated, “This is a game changer! I did Morpheus laser to tighten my stomach at @DrGhavami’s spa. I think this is my fave laser but it’s painful lol but worth it!’ Beverly Hills based plastic surgeon, Dr. Ghavami performed the treatment. “I’m obsessed with skincare and facial treatments and lasers so wanted to share what this is,” she goes on to say.
What Is Morpheus8V?
Because Morpheus8 became so popular, the company just launched their latest device for women’s wellness called the Morpheus8V, a non-invasive bi-polar fractional radiofrequency technology for vaginal treatments that help medical issues that can come from childbirth, menopause, or poor health. While the thought of having a laser between one’s legs may sound terrifying, Kardashian says that the treatments are somewhat painful, but not as painful as one would expect, but definitely worth any discomfort.
What Is Vaginal Rejuvenation?
Kardashian and other notable individuals like Jada Pinkett Smith, and Brandi Glanville have been enthusiastically talking about their personal experiences with vaginal rejuvenation touting the benefits on social media, and many women are following their lead. In fact, the demand for vaginal rejuvenation has experienced a massive increase with the global demand projected to double in value over the next few years reaching $12 billion by 2026. But what is it exactly?
Vaginal rejuvenation is a very broad term that encompasses anything that alters the vaginal anatomy including internal and external structures. Treatments include vaginoplasty (surgery to repair or construct a vagina), labiaplasty (surgery to change the size and shape of the labia minora, which are the inner lips of the vagina), vulvoplasty (surgery to change the size and shape of the labia majora, which are the outer lips of the vagina), and clitoral hood reduction (surgery to reduce the amount of skin around the clitoris).
“Women seeking vaginal rejuvenation surgeries typically fall into three camps,” said Dr. Lauri Romanzi, board certified physician in obstetrics and gynecology and a member of the Women’s Health Advisory Council. “In one camp are women who want procedures like clitoral hood reduction that they believe will enhance sexual response. The second camp consists of women whose motivation is purely cosmetic; they don’t like the way their external genitalia look and want surgery to change it. This camp sometimes overlaps with the third one, which is made up of women — usually those who have given birth — with pelvic floor problems who want surgery to ‘tighten’ or ‘revirginize’ their vaginas.”
Romanzi goes on to explain that these medical procedures have been performed for a long time. However, many people are learning about them through the lens of “vaginal rejuvenation” rather than as standardized medical procedures because of the way they’ve been covered in the media and talked about on social channels.
Technology around vaginal rejuvenation has advanced to include energy-based treatments that use heat instead of surgery to treat symptoms such as vaginal laxity including two main types: radiofrequency and C02.
Radiofrequency vaginal rejuvenation treatments use heated electromagnetic waves to tighten and firm up tissue, while CO2 laser treatments heat the upper layers of tissue to stimulate skin-plumping collagen production in the lower layers.
Energy-based vaginal rejuvenation treatments are not invasive and require little to no downtime. Most women who receive this treatment resume their normal activities after the procedure and can resume sexual activity a few days afterward. While these procedures are less involved than surgical vaginal rejuvenation, they’re not without risk. Complications can include bleeding, infection, and scarring.
How Can Morpheus8V Help With Vaginal Rejuvenation?
Millions of women are affected by vaginal dryness, painful sex, and bladder leaks whether it be from age, childbirth, menopause, or a medical condition. Morpheus8V can help rejuvenate the vagina, including remodeling the labia to help improve the comfort and enjoyment of sex, elevate sex drive, and restore a more youthful looking vaginal region. This technology delivers controlled pulses of RF energy deep into the vagina and labia that tightens the soft tissue in the region and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin resulting in increased lubrication, and thickness, strength, and tone in the vaginal walls and labia.
Bottom Line
Love them or hate them, the Kardashian clan has once again propelled a subject that was once taboo into the spotlight, which is the health of our proverbial lady bits. Whether one suffers from a medical condition or has a cosmetic concern, non-invasive, energy-based vaginal rejuvenation can help address many of the common conditions that plague our most delicate body parts.
